Location: East of England Job Type: Full-time About the Role: We are seeking a diligent and organized Accounts Assistant and Administrator to join our dynamic team in the East of England.   • Perform general administrative duties such as organizing meetings, scheduling appointments, and creating documents using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Assist in the development of financial policies and procedures and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Support the finance department in ad hoc projects and tasks as required. Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role is essential, preferably within a medium to large-sized organization.
  • A Level 3 or higher Accounting Technician qualification (AAT) is desired but not essential with a commitment to achieving this qualification if not already held.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills are essential for this role, alongside the ability to work accurately under pressure.

Role Duties

In this role as an Accounts Assistant and Administrator within our dynamic East of England-based organization, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth running of our financial processes and administrative tasks.   • Maintaining accurate records of financial transactions, such as accounts payable/receivable, by using up-to-date computerized accounting software.

  • Assisting with the preparation of VAT returns, and other tax-related tasks as required.
  • Supporting the Finance Manager in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to financial management.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate recording of transactions, and providing guidance on financial matters when necessary.
  • Providing administrative support as required, including managing and organizing documents, scheduling appointments, and assisting with event coordination.
  • Continuously learning about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our financial processes.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an SME environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including double-entry bookkeeping and financial statements.
  • Proficient in using accounting software packages such as QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong numerical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
