Primary Duties

In this challenging and rewarding role as a Class 1 Driver within our organization, you will be at the heart of ensuring the efficient movement of goods in and out of our warehouses and distribution centers across the East of England region.

• *Safe Transportation

• : Operate large commercial vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and regulations, adhering to safe driving practices at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, your cargo, and other road users.

• *Route Planning & Execution

• : Plan efficient routes for deliveries, taking into account factors such as traffic conditions, time constraints, and load security requirements. Navigate these routes with precision and professionalism.

• *Load Management

• : Securely load and unload goods in a timely manner, ensuring proper handling of all items to prevent damage. Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle throughout your journey.

• *Vehicle Maintenance

• : Perform basic vehicle maintenance checks prior to departure, reporting any issues promptly to the appropriate team for resolution. Ensure vehicles are well-maintained and roadworthy at all times.

• *Customer Service

• : Act as an ambassador for our organization, providing excellent customer service when interacting with clients or colleagues during deliveries and collections. Maintain professionalism and courtesy in all communications.

• *Compliance

• : Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations regarding weight limits, hazardous materials transportation, and other legislation that may apply to your role as a Class 1 Driver.

Professional Skills

• Valid Class 1 Driver's License: Possess a valid and current Class 1 driver's license to operate large goods vehicles professionally.

• Safe Driving Practices: Demonstrate strong commitment to safe driving practices, adhering to all road regulations and company policies.
• Load Securing Knowledge: Proficiency in the proper securing of goods during transportation, ensuring the safety of both cargo and other road users.
• Route Planning and Navigation: Ability to plan efficient routes, navigate effectively using maps or GPS systems, and adapt to unexpected changes.
• Digital Tachograph Familiarity: Experience with digital tachographs for recording driving hours and ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Multi-Drop Deliveries: Ability to handle multi-drop deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.
• Customer Service: Strong communication skills and the ability to provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients during deliveries or pickups.
• Flexibility: Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
