Health & Safety Manager | Job in West Yorkshire

*Role Summary: *

As the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading, implementing, and enforcing our organization's health, safety, and environmental policies across all our locations within the Yorkshire and the Humber area. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, identify potential risks, and implement strategies to mitigate those risks effectively.

*Key Responsibilities: *

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Health & Safety management systems in line with legal requirements and best practice standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure a proactive approach to safety management.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide health and safety training, guidance, and support to employees at all levels across the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish and achieve health and safety objectives that align with our overall business strategy.
  • Liaise with external authorities, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practice standards, ensuring the organization remains compliant and proactive in its approach to safety management.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with employees, promoting a culture of openness and continuous improvement when it comes to health and safety matters.
  • Manage incident reporting processes, maintaining accurate records and conducting thorough investigations as necessary.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and procedures, ensuring they are effective, regularly tested, and updated as required.

*Qualifications: *

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a Health & Safety Manager role within a similar organization.
  • Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and best practice standards.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership to establish health & safety objectives that align with overall business strategy.
