As a highly skilled HGV Mechanic, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing our fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they remain safe, efficient, and reliable.
*Qualifications: *
- City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Technology, or equivalent qualification.
- Full UK driver's license with a valid HGV category (class 1 or class 2) is desirable but not essential as long as you are willing to obtain the necessary licence if successful.
- Apprenticeship training or equivalent experience in vehicle mechanics will also be considered.
*Skills: *
- Proven experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing faults on HGVs, ideally in a busy workshop environment.
- Excellent understanding of engine systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, suspensions, and transmissions.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a high standard of quality in your work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think logically and creatively to find solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and concisely to colleagues and customers alike.
- Flexibility to work outside normal hours when necessary, such as during breakdown recovery or during busy periods.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and prioritise workload efficiently.
