HGV Technician (Late shift/Nights) | Job in Kent

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled HGV Technician to join our team on the late shift/nights in South East England. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring the smooth operation of our logistics.

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, following manufacturer guidelines and adhering to Health & Safety regulations
  • Diagnose faults quickly and effectively, using your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles before and after work, documenting any issues found or work carried out
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure all vehicles are maintained and repaired in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment at all times
  • Keep up-to-date with new developments in HGV technology and industry standards
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role within the automotive or heavy machinery industries
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to explain technical matters clearly to non-technical personnel
  • Flexibility to work on the late shift/nights as required by our operations
  • Valid UK driver's license is essential for this role

Job Role

In our organization we are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Technician to join our team for the late shift/nights. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet vehicles and the maintenance of high safety standards.

*Responsibilities: *

  • Carrying out routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) as required.
  • Diagnosing faults using appropriate diagnostic tools, and repairing or replacing parts as necessary.
  • Ensuring vehicles are roadworthy and safe for use according to industry standards and regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate service records and carrying out necessary paperwork.
  • Liaising with the transport office regarding vehicle maintenance schedules and any issues that may arise.
  • Participating in any training programs as required to keep your skills up-to-date and ensure compliance with any changes in industry standards or regulations.

*Requirements: *

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work late shifts/nights as required.
  • Valid driver's license and a relevant qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ) would be beneficial but not essential.
