IT Infrastructure Systems Engineer (6 months FTC) | Job in County Durham

In this critical role within our dynamic IT team, you will be responsible for:

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Infrastructure Systems Engineer for a fixed-term contract of 6 months to join our forward-thinking team in the North East region. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation and security of our IT infrastructure systems, supporting both our internal operations and client-facing services.

  • Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure systems that meet the organization's needs and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the team to resolve complex technical issues and provide solutions that enhance system performance and security.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, ensuring high availability and reliability of our IT services.
  • Install, configure, and manage hardware and software systems, including servers, storage devices, firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Implement and update IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Participate in project work as required, contributing to the successful deployment of new technologies or system upgrades.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve our IT infrastructure capabilities.
  • Proven experience as an IT Systems Engineer or similar role within the IT industry.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture, server administration, storage solutions, and security protocols.
  • Expertise in designing, configuring, and managing complex IT infrastructure systems.
  • Proficiency with various operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services (Azure, AWS).
  • Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection systems).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical team members.
  • A proactive approach to IT maintenance and a commitment to providing high-quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; additional certifications (CCNA, MCSE, etc.) are a plus.
