Anti-Social Behaviour Officer | Job in Northumberland

The North East Region is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Anti-Social Behaviour Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing community safety and improving the quality of life for residents within the region.

*Key Responsibilities: *

  • Investigate reports of anti-social behavior, assess risk levels, and take appropriate action to resolve incidents or mitigate their impact on the community.
  • Develop and implement strategies in collaboration with stakeholders to address patterns of anti-social behavior, focusing on prevention and early intervention.
  • Liaise with a wide range of local agencies, partners, and community groups to foster strong relationships, share information, and coordinate responses to incidents of anti-social behavior.
  • Provide support, advice, and guidance to victims of anti-social behavior, ensuring they are informed about their rights, options, and the progress of any actions taken.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prosecution of offenders involved in anti-social behavior.
  • Conduct regular community engagement activities to raise awareness about anti-social behavior, promote a sense of safety, and empower local residents to take action against such issues.
  • Compile detailed incident reports and statistics for analysis, monitoring trends, and informing policy decisions related to anti-social behavior.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, best practices, and emerging trends in anti-social behavior management.

  • A genuine passion for improving community safety and quality of life for residents in the North East Region.
  • A relevant degree or professional qualification in a related field (e.g., criminology, social work, or community development).
  • A full, valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel within the region.
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.

  • Degree in Criminology, Psychology, Social Work, Law, or a related field from a recognized institution. A Master's degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Valid driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for patrol and response duties.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and a commitment to enhancing knowledge through training and research in the field of anti-social behaviour management.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people in challenging situations.
  • Strong negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution abilities, with a proven track record of successfully resolving disputes and reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and cultural awareness, with an understanding of the complexities and sensitivities that can underpin anti-social behaviours in various communities.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to identify patterns, assess risk, and implement effective strategies to manage and reduce anti-social behaviour.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure when necessary.
  • A commitment to upholding the principles of equality, diversity, and human rights in all aspects of work.
  • Resilience, with an ability to cope with stress and maintain a positive outlook in challenging situations.

  • A flexible approach to work, with an ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays when required. This role may also involve on-call duties at times.
