Controls Engineer | Job in West Sussex

Role Title: Controls Engineer

Location: South East

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team in the South East region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing control systems to ensure the smooth operation of our industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems using PLCs, DCS, and SCADA software.

  • Troubleshoot and maintain control system hardware and software.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand process requirements and design appropriate control solutions.

  • Perform system testing and validation to ensure system performance and reliability.

  • Document and communicate system designs, modifications, and maintenance procedures.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in control technology, and best practices.

  • Participate in project planning and execution to meet project milestones.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree.

  • Proven experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on industrial automation.

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and SCADA software (Wonderware, Rockwell Automation, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of control system hardware and software architecture.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to travel as needed for project visits or training.
