Role Duties
In this critical role as a Domestic Abuse Support Worker, you will be at the forefront of providing essential support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse across the South West region. Your daily tasks and responsibilities will encompass the following areas:
Direct Support: Provide one-to-one and group support to individuals experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse, offering a safe, non-judgemental environment for them to share their experiences and work towards their safety plan.
Advocacy: Advocate on behalf of service users with relevant agencies such as the police, social services, courts, and housing providers, ensuring their needs and rights are represented and met appropriately.
Risk Assessment and Safety Planning: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential dangers and develop safety plans tailored to each individual's unique situation to help minimize harm and maximize safety.
Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support during emergencies, providing practical assistance such as securing safe accommodation, accessing legal aid, and connecting individuals with essential services.
Case Management: Manage a caseload of service users, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, monitoring progress, and liaising effectively with other professionals involved in each case.
Group Work: Facilitate support groups for both victims/survivors and perpetrators, promoting healing, education, and accountability, as appropriate.
