The Role

The Scottish Borders is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to fill the role of Driver Fitter. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team responsible for maintaining and operating heavy machinery in one of the most beautiful regions in Scotland.

As a Driver Fitter, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our fleet vehicles by performing routine maintenance, completing repairs, and performing regular inspections. In addition to these duties, you will also drive our equipment to various job sites within the Scottish Borders area.   • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on all vehicles and heavy machinery as required.

  • Conduct pre-operation checks before driving equipment to job sites.

  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety guidelines and regulations.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs to minimize downtime.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to maintain an organized and safe working environment.

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment usage, and any identified issues for future reference.

  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work culture by collaborating with colleagues, sharing knowledge, and providing feedback when necessary.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as local regulations and guidelines related to heavy machinery operation and maintenance.

  • Participate in ongoing training programs to expand your skills and stay up-to-date on the latest industry developments.

  • Proven experience as a Driver Fitter or Heavy Equipment Mechanic, with a strong understanding of diesel engines and hydraulics.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime as necessary.
