Maintenance Electrician | Job in Greater Manchester

As a Maintenance Electrician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our facilities in the North West region. Here are some key responsibilities and duties for this position:

  • *Routine Maintenance:
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment, systems, machinery, and components to ensure they operate efficiently and safely. This includes inspecting electrical systems, troubleshooting problems, and replacing worn or malfunctioning parts as necessary.
  • *Repair and Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnose and repair any electrical issues that arise in our facilities. This might involve fault finding, circuit breaker maintenance, and wiring repairs. You will also be responsible for the installation of new equipment and systems when required.
  • *Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant safety regulations, standards, and company policies. This includes performing hazard assessments, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any potential risks or accidents promptly.
  • *Documentation:
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. These records are essential for future reference and for maintaining our facilities in optimal condition.
  • *Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other technical teams within the company to ensure all maintenance activities align with the overall goals and objectives of the business. This includes liaising with managers, supervisors, and other maintenance staff to coordinate work schedules and resources effectively.
  • *Continuous Learning:
  • Stay updated with the latest industry developments and technologies by attending training sessions, workshops, or online courses as required. This will enable you to maintain your skills at a high level and contribute positively to our team's performance.
  • *Emergency Response:
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any electrical emergencies that occur in our facilities outside of regular working hours. This may involve working on-call or being part of an emergency response team.

Candidate Requirements

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Electrician to join our team based in the North West region. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure their optimal performance and safety.

  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, equipment, and machinery, following established procedures and guidelines.

  • Troubleshoot electrical problems and repair or replace faulty components as necessary.

  • Install new electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in accordance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure effective and efficient resolution of maintenance issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs, reports, and documentation.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and take appropriate corrective action.

  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to other team members as needed.

  • A recognized apprenticeship or diploma in Electrical Maintenance, Electrician Technology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Electrician or similar role.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and machinery, as well as applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.

  • Proficiency in using various tools, including multi-meters, circuit testers, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and engage with stakeholders.

  • Physical stamina and dexterity for working in various environments, including confined spaces and at heights.

  • Current valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.

  • Ability to travel within the North West region as required by business needs.

  • Certification or membership with relevant industry organizations such as The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) or National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or utilities environment.

  • Knowledge of the latest trends and technologies in electrical maintenance and repair.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive approach to safety and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for all team members.
