Primary Teaching Assistant | Job in Dorset

The South West Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team for the upcoming school year. This position will be based in one of our primary schools within the South West region.

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. Your role is crucial in creating a positive learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and respect for all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the classroom teacher in preparing and delivering lesson plans.
• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students as needed.
• Assist with the management of the classroom, including maintaining a clean and organized environment.
• Support the social and emotional development of students, helping them to build positive relationships and manage their behavior.
• Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to develop and implement strategies that cater to the individual needs of students.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to improve your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Education Assistance, Child and Youth Care, or a related field would be considered an asset.
• Proven experience working with primary school students is essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively work with students, teachers, and parents.
• A strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in teaching and learning is required.
• Patience, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to supporting the growth and success of all students are essential qualities for this role.
