Quantity Surveyor | Job in Merseyside
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in the North West region. In this role, you will be responsible for managing cost-effective procurement strategies, budgeting, and cost management throughout various stages of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and negotiating contracts and change orders with clients and subcontractors.
- Collaborating with the project team to manage budgets, forecast costs, and ensure profitability.
- Conducting cost analysis, determining the cost of labour, materials, and equipment for various construction projects.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Providing expert advice on cost-related matters to optimize project outcomes.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant contracts, regulations, and company policies.
- Supporting the business development team in preparing bids and proposals for new projects.
- Leading post-construction cost analysis and claim preparation as needed.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, legal procedures, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in budgeting, cost estimation, and cost control.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation abilities.
- Proficient in using quantity surveying software and MS Office Suite.
- Member of a relevant professional body is desirable but not essential.

The ideal candidate for the role of Quantity Surveyor should possess the following skills and qualifications:
Professional Qualification: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field from a recognized institution is essential. Postgraduate qualifications, such as an MSc in Quantity Surveying, are highly desirable.
Membership of Professional Bodies: Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or similar professional bodies is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, preferably in the North West region.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using cost management software and other relevant tools for quantity surveying is necessary. Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) would be advantageous.
Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet project deadlines.
Financial Acumen: Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to prepare and analyze budgets, cost plans, and estimates accurately.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate effectively with clients, contractors, and suppliers to secure the best possible outcomes for projects.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving skills to manage potential issues that may arise during a project.
Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail in all aspects of work, particularly when dealing with financial matters and contractual agreements.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, but also ability to work independently when required.
Knowledge of Construction Industry Regulations: Familiarity with relevant construction industry regulations and standards in the North West region is crucial.
