As a Residential Support Worker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care and supervision of children residing at one of our residential homes. You will work collaboratively with other staff members to create a positive living environment that promotes personal growth, emotional wellbeing, and educational success for each child.
Provide a high standard of care and support to the children in your charge, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
Collaborate with other staff members to develop and implement individualized care plans for each child.
Monitor and report on children's progress, behavior, and any concerns to the relevant supervisor or manager.
Contribute to a safe, clean, and homely environment that promotes positive interactions among the children and encourages their development.
Assist with daily living tasks, such as meal preparation, hygiene, and laundry, while maintaining respect for each child's privacy and independence.
Foster strong relationships with children, offering emotional support, guidance, and encouragement during challenging times.
Participate in various activities to engage the children in educational, recreational, and social opportunities both on-site and within the community.
Contribute to a positive team dynamic by collaborating effectively with other staff members, sharing best practices, and seeking feedback for continuous improvement.
Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures, as well as relevant local and national regulations regarding child welfare and protection.
Maintain confidentiality and ensure the privacy of children and their personal information at all times.
Proven experience working with children in a residential care setting, preferably within Children's Services or similar.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and colleagues alike.
A genuine passion for supporting the wellbeing of children in need.
Resilience, adaptability, and the ability to handle challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
A good understanding of child development principles and how to apply them in practice.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required by the needs of the residential home.
An understanding of relevant legislation and best practices related to child welfare and protection.
A minimum of Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent qualification is desired, but not essential for candidates with extensive relevant experience.
Experience working within a team that supports children with additional needs such as learning difficulties, mental health issues, or emotional behavioral difficulties (EBD).
A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle, as travel between residential homes may be required on occasion.
