Required Skills
- *Bachelor's degree
- in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution, with a focus on submarine engineering or related field is preferred. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- *Professional Engineering license (PE)
- or willingness to obtain one within a specified timeframe.
Submarine experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the design, construction, or operation of submarines. Experience with nuclear-powered submarines is highly desirable.
Technical proficiency: In-depth knowledge of submarine systems (propulsion, navigation, control, weapons, and life support), as well as materials and fabrication techniques suitable for submarine construction.
Regulatory compliance: Thorough understanding of relevant submarine safety regulations, including but not limited to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
Risk assessment and management: Ability to perform risk assessments, identify potential hazards, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
Project management skills: Proven ability to manage complex projects from inception through completion, meeting deadlines, and adhering to budget constraints.
Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-solving skills: Ability to solve complex problems, make sound decisions under pressure, and provide innovative solutions.
Knowledge of submarine design software: Familiarity with software such as Catia, Nastran, or ANSYS.
Naval architecture experience: Experience in the field of naval architecture, including hydrodynamics and stability studies.
Quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) experience: Proven ability to implement and oversee QA/QC processes.
Leadership experience: Proven track record of leading teams in a high-pressure, safety-critical environment.
International experience: Experience working in international settings or with multi-national teams is beneficial.
Security clearance: Current active security clearance (e.g., TS/SCI) is preferred but not required. Eligibility for clearance will be verified throughout the hiring process.
