*Qualifications: *

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a secondary specialism.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary SEND Class Teacher to join our vibrant educational community in the North West. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with students who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a secondary school setting, and be committed to providing high-quality teaching that supports each student's individual learning journey.

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of SEND students in accordance with their Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).

  • Collaborate effectively with SENDCO, teaching assistants, and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.

  • Develop innovative strategies to help SEND students make progress in line with their individual learning objectives.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate actively in regular reviews and assessments.

  • Contribute to the development of the school's SEND policy and practices, ensuring they are consistently being updated to meet the evolving needs of our students.

  • Liaise effectively with parents/guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and any issues that may arise.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our school.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with specialism in secondary education.

  • Proven experience working as a SEND Class Teacher within a UK secondary school setting.

  • A deep understanding of the legislative framework surrounding SEND and the Code of Practice.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

  • Strong organisational abilities, with an aptitude for adapting teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.

  • Experience working with students who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or Complex Needs.

  • Experience using various SEND software and technology to aid teaching and learning processes.

  • Ability to teach a specific secondary subject at GCSE level.

  • Leadership experience within a SEND department or team.
