Senior Network Engineer | Job in Devon

  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide escalation support as needed for critical incidents outside regular business hours.

Candidate Expectations

As a Senior Network Engineer for our global IT Infrastructure team based in South West, you will be a key player in designing, implementing, and maintaining our complex network architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability and security of our global networks, as well as optimize performance and scalability.

  • Design, deploy, and maintain our wide area network (WAN) infrastructure across multiple geographic locations.

  • Collaborate with IT teams worldwide to troubleshoot network issues, implement solutions, and ensure the seamless operation of our global network.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of evolving networking technologies, including software-defined networks (SDN), cloud networking, and network automation tools.

  • Optimize network performance by implementing appropriate Quality of Service (QoS) policies and traffic management strategies.

  • Ensure the security of our network infrastructure through robust security protocols, firewall configuration, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  • Collaborate with IT operations to ensure incident response and recovery procedures are in place and effectively executed.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our network infrastructure by identifying areas for optimization and implementing appropriate solutions.

  • Stay current with industry best practices, standards, and trends in networking technologies.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP).

  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer or Senior Network Engineer in a global organization.

  • Extensive knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and others.

  • Experience with wide area networking technologies such as MPLS, VPNs, and cloud-based networking solutions.

  • Strong understanding of security best practices and experience configuring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security solutions.

  • Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet) and scripting languages (Python, Perl).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate across different teams and geographies.

  • A results-driven approach to work, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions efficiently.

  • Willingness to travel as required (approximately 20% of the time).
