As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing and executing the quantity surveying function on various construction projects within the region. Your key duties will include:
- Preparation of bills of quantities, cost plans, and tender documentation.
- Managing the tender process to ensure competitive bids are received from reputable contractors.
- Negotiating and agreeing upon contracts with selected contractors, ensuring that they are legally binding and meet our organization's standards.
- Monitoring project costs throughout the construction phase to ensure budgetary control and financial management of projects.
- Providing regular cost reports to senior management for decision-making purposes.
- Liaising with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure project progress and financial targets are met.
- Adhering to relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the quantity surveying process.
- Supporting the development of junior staff members within the quantity surveying department.
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS).
- Excellent knowledge of contractual matters and procurement strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in using relevant software (e.g., Asta PowerProject, Excel).
- The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- A valid driver's license and a willingness to travel as needed across the East of England.
