Applicant Requirements

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our progressive and caring team at Buchan Vets.   • Provide outstanding clinical care to small animals in accordance with the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct

  • Develop effective relationships with our clients and their pets, delivering exceptional service at all times

  • Collaborate closely with our experienced team, contributing your expertise to help us achieve even greater levels of patient care

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

  • Assist in the training and development of student veterinary nurses, as well as other members of the team

  • A degree in Veterinary Medicine and registration with the RCVS

  • A minimum of two years' experience within small animal practice

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues alike

  • A strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care, with a focus on pain management and welfare

  • A proactive approach to CPD, with a willingness to share knowledge and learn from others

  • An enthusiastic team player, who appreciates the value of collaboration in achieving outstanding results

  • A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to our sites as required

  • Postgraduate certificates or diplomas in relevant areas of veterinary medicine

  • Experience with exotic species is advantageous but not essential

We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Small Animal Veterinarian to join our dedicated team. This is a full-time position with no out-of-hours commitments.

  • Providing high-quality medical care and treatment to small animals, including dogs, cats, and exotic pets.

  • Performing routine and advanced veterinary procedures under the guidance of Senior Vets when necessary.

  • Collaborating with the team to ensure the best possible patient care, working towards continuous improvement in veterinary medicine and client satisfaction.

  • Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible.

  • Engaging effectively with clients, providing empathetic communication regarding their pets' health and treatment options.

  • Participating in continuous professional development to stay current on best practices, new technologies, and advancements within the veterinary field.

  • Assisting in practice management and daily operations as required.

  • A degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized institution.

  • Registration with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).

  • Previous experience working in a small animal veterinary clinic, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked in a similar role within the UK.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to empathize with clients and their pets.

  • A commitment to providing high-quality patient care and excellent client service.

  • Flexibility to work during practice hours, which may include weekends, depending on the needs of our patients and clients.

  • A proactive approach to learning and professional development, with a strong desire to stay current on veterinary medicine advancements.

  • A valid driving license and reliable transportation for travel between practice locations as needed.
