SuDS Engineer | Job in Blaenau Gwent

*Essential: *

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree in one of these fields is highly desirable.

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or evidence of working towards this.

  • Proven experience in the design and implementation of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). Minimum 5 years' experience is required.

  • Thorough understanding of SuDS principles, including hydrology, hydraulics, and ecology.

  • Proficiency in using relevant software such as MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, or similar for the design and analysis of SuDS systems.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex engineering concepts to a variety of audiences.

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, meet deadlines, and work within budget constraints.

  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel when necessary.

*Desirable: *

  • Experience in the construction industry, particularly with SuDS implementation.

  • Knowledge of Welsh planning policies and regulations regarding SuDS.

  • Membership or affiliation with relevant professional bodies such as the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).

  • Experience in environmental impact assessment, flood risk assessment, or similar roles.

  • Knowledge of BREEAM or LEED rating systems and their integration with SuDS design.

  • Familiarity with geotechnical investigations and site surveys.

  • Experience in team leadership or management.

  • An understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with sustainable urban drainage in Wales.

Desired Candidate

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) Engineer to join our team based in Wales. The ideal candidate will be passionate about sustainable infrastructure solutions and have a strong background in civil engineering, hydrology, or a related field.

  • Design, implement, and maintain SuDS for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with local regulations and best practices.

  • Collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team to integrate SuDS into larger infrastructure projects.

  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and prepare detailed technical reports.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians within the team.

  • Stay abreast of industry developments and apply innovative solutions to our SuDS projects.

  • Represent the company at meetings with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.

  • Contribute to business development activities by identifying new opportunities for SuDS implementation.

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field. A Master's degree or chartered status (MICE, CEng, MCIWEM) is desirable but not essential.

  • Proven experience in SuDS design and implementation, preferably within the UK.

  • Strong technical skills, including hydrological modeling, AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, and other relevant software.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A proactive approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • A strong commitment to sustainable infrastructure solutions and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
