Subject Expertise: A strong understanding and expertise in the subject(s) you will be tutoring, such as Maths, English, Science, or Languages. Relevant teaching qualifications or degrees are highly desirable.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly explain concepts and ideas to students of various ages and abilities.
Patience and Empathy: The ability to patiently guide students through challenges, showing understanding and empathy towards their learning needs.
Creativity: A creative approach to teaching, using a variety of methods to keep lessons engaging and effective.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to plan effective lessons, manage student progress, and maintain accurate records.
Adaptability: The flexibility to adapt teaching styles and strategies to cater to individual students' learning styles and needs.
Professionalism: A commitment to upholding professional standards at all times, including punctuality, reliability, and confidentiality.
Experience in One-on-One Tutoring: Prior experience in one-on-one tutoring or teaching is beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.
Knowledge of Local Curriculum: Familiarity with the Yorkshire and Humber curriculum, or the ability to quickly adapt to it.
Teaching Qualifications (e.g., QTS): While not always necessary for tutoring roles, having a formal teaching qualification such as Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) can be an advantage.
DBS Checked: Having an up-to-date DBS check is beneficial but not always essential, as some organizations may provide this service.
Availability: Flexibility to work during school hours and/or evenings, and the ability to commit to regular sessions with students.
