We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Principal Ecologist who can contribute to our mission while also growing professionally within our organisation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, build strong relationships with clients, and make a real impact on the conservation of local ecosystems. Key Responsibilities:
- Leading ecological surveys, assessments, and monitoring programs for a variety of projects
- Preparing high-quality technical reports and ecological advice for clients
- Developing and managing project budgets and schedules
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders
- Contributing to the development of new business opportunities through proposal writing, networking, and marketing activities Requirements:
- A relevant degree in Ecology, Conservation Biology, or a related field, along with postgraduate qualifications (MSc/PhD preferred)
- Extensive experience as an ecological consultant in the UK, preferably within the South West region
- Proven expertise in conducting ecological surveys and assessments for a range of habitats and species
- Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to prepare clear and concise advice for clients
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders
- A track record of successful project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
