*Key Responsibilities: *

  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), and strategic environmental advice for offshore projects.
  • Collaborate closely with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of our organisation's environmental policies, procedures, and methodologies to maintain a competitive edge in the industry.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on offshore environmental matters, attending conferences, seminars, and workshops to stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and regulatory changes that may impact our projects.
  • Represent the organisation in various forums, promoting its reputation as a leader in sustainable offshore development and advocating for best practices in environmental management.

*Qualifications: *

  • Relevant degree in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Ecology, or similar field with a postgraduate qualification in a related subject being desirable.
  • Proven experience as an Environmental Consultant within the offshore sector with demonstrable expertise in environmental impact assessments and regulatory compliance for marine projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulators.
  • A deep understanding of relevant environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks in Wales and the UK, as well as a strong awareness of international best practices in offshore environmental management.
  • Proficiency in using environmental modelling software and tools is desirable. Applicant Requirements

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Environmental Consultant to join our offshore team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the environmental integrity of our offshore projects, contributing to sustainable development, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

  • Lead and manage environmental impact assessments for offshore projects, including site surveys, data analysis, and reporting
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans, strategies, and policies for offshore projects in collaboration with project teams
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential environmental impacts and propose mitigation measures
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and best practices
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior consultants and other team members on environmental matters related to offshore projects
  • Contribute to business development by participating in proposal writing, bid teams, and client meetings
  • Stay abreast of the latest environmental regulations, industry trends, and research, and apply this knowledge to our offshore projects
  • A Master's degree in Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Ecology, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as an Environmental Consultant, preferably within the offshore sector with at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices applicable to offshore projects
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to communicate complex environmental issues effectively to various stakeholders
  • Proficiency in relevant software for data analysis and report preparation (e.g., Excel, R, ArcGIS)
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for offshore projects
  • Experience working with renewable energy projects, particularly offshore wind farms, would be highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of marine species identification and ecology, as well as experience in conducting marine surveys, is beneficial
