- Preparing and analyzing cost estimates for building and civil engineering projects.
- Negotiating contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Monitoring project costs throughout construction to ensure they remain within budget.
- Coordinating with the project team to address any cost-related issues that may arise during construction.
- Preparing cost reports and other documentation for senior management and clients.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, including adherence to relevant legislation and regulations.
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as architects, engineers, and legal advisors. To excel in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, along with substantial experience in the construction industry. You should also be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. *Key Responsibilities: *
- Preparing accurate estimates for building or civil engineering projects, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
- Negotiating contracts and change orders with clients and subcontractors to ensure project profitability.
- Managing project budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring that financial targets are met.
- Providing cost-effective solutions to project challenges while adhering to quality and safety standards.
- Liaising with the project team, clients, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Conducting periodic cost analyses to identify areas for improvement in future projects.
- Preparing comprehensive cost reports for senior management and clients.
- Compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
*Qualifications: *
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Membership of a professional body such as RICS, CIOB, or similar is desirable but not essential.
