Role Overview

  • Preparing and submitting tender documents for new contracts, including bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
  • Conducting cost analyses to determine the feasibility of construction projects and provide recommendations.
  • Negotiating and agreeing subcontractor terms and conditions.
  • Preparing and maintaining budgets throughout the life of each project, ensuring they are adhered to.
  • Managing and controlling costs during all stages of a project, from inception to completion.
  • Liaising with contractors, clients, and other professionals to ensure compliance with cost targets.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports on cost performance for the project team and senior management.
  • Maintaining accurate records of project costs, including material usage, labour costs, and subcontractor invoices.
  • Assisting in the preparation of final accounts for completed projects, ensuring they are accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Providing expert advice on cost-related matters to the project team, senior management, and clients as needed.
  • A degree or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • A strong understanding of construction contracts and their commercial implications.
  • Proficiency in using cost management software, such as COINS or Aconex.
  • Excellent numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, such as RICS or CIOB, is desirable but not essential.
