- Continuously developing your knowledge and skills in deafness-related issues to remain up-to-date with best practices and new developments. To excel in this role, you should have:
- A genuine passion for supporting people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Excellent sign language skills (BSL Level 4 as a minimum).
- Proven experience working within the deaf community, ideally in a support or social care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships.

Day-to-Day Tasks
As a Senior Support Worker within our Deaf Services team, your primary role is to provide exceptional support to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, enabling them to live fulfilling and independent lives. Here's an overview of the day-to-day tasks you can expect:
*Direct Support
- : Deliver direct, person-centered support to service users within their homes or within our community settings. This includes helping with daily living tasks, personal care, and social activities.

*Key Responsibilities: *

- Facilitate communication using a variety of methods, including sign language, lip-reading, written communication, and assistive technology.

*Requirements: *
- Proven experience working as a Support Worker or similar role within deafness services.
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in British Sign Language (BSL) and/or other modes of communication used by the deaf community.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
- Valid driving license (desirable but not essential) due to the requirement for travel within the East Midlands region.
